Does Your Sales System Have a Pulse? How to Check if It’s Alive or on Life Support

If your sales system was a body, would it be alive… or barely hanging on?
Most women I work with don’t know the answer. They’re posting, emailing, “doing all the things,” but deep down they’re running their business blind. No tracking, no metrics, no way of knowing whether the system is thriving or flatlining.
Today, I want to show you how to check the pulse of your sales system so you can stop guessing and start growing.
Why Sales Is Just Like Health
Think of your business like your body.
If you had severe chest pains, you wouldn’t ignore them forever. (Okay, moms might push it off until it gets unbearable, I get it.) But eventually, you’d pay attention and do something about it.
The same goes for sales. Most entrepreneurs ignore the warning signs until money is bleeding out of the business. Then it’s a scramble.
Instead of waiting until it’s an emergency, you need to monitor your business with regular pulse checks.
The Three Vital Signs of a Healthy Sales System
Just like your body has vital signs — heart rate, blood pressure, breathing — your sales system does too. If you’re not checking them, you have no idea if your business is alive.
Here are the three sales vitals you need to track starting this week:
1. Outreach = Your Heart Rate
How many people are you actually connecting with each day? If your outreach is flat, your opportunities are flat.
Bare minimum: 3 new conversations a day
Better: 5–10 conversations a day
Best: 15+ if you’re in a season of growth
This isn’t about cold-pitching. It’s about starting conversations, building trust, and creating visibility. Outreach creates opportunities — sales, collabs, podcasts, referrals, everything.
Eventually, you can hire this out to a sales setter. But first, you need to prove your process works.
2. Follow-Ups = Your Blood Pressure
Most sales don’t happen on the first or second touch. They happen after the fifth, sixth, or even seventh follow-up.
And no, follow-up doesn’t mean “hey, just checking in.” That’s lazy and self-serving.
Powerful follow-up looks like this:
“Hey, you mentioned your mom was in the hospital last time we spoke. How’s she doing?”
“You told me you had a launch coming up, how did it go?”
“Did you get the resources I sent over to help with that project?”
When you follow up with genuine care, you’re building trust and staying top of mind. That’s where the sales are.
3. Conversions = Your Breathing
This is the oxygen of your business.
How many of your conversations, calls, or opt-ins are actually converting into sales? If you’re not tracking this, you’ll never know what’s working and what’s not.
Start simple:
How many calls booked vs. calls showed up?
How many calls said yes vs. no?
How many DM conversations turned into sales.
You don’t need fancy software. A simple spreadsheet is enough to start spotting patterns.
How to Run Your Pulse Check
Here’s your assignment:
Track outreach, follow-ups, and conversions daily for the next 7 days.
Review at the end of the week. Where are you strong? Where are you weak?
Diagnose. Do you need more conversations, better follow-ups, or a stronger close.
This isn’t about hustling harder. It’s about paying attention to the right vitals so you can adjust with precision.
