From Zero Clients to Cold Call Wins: How She Built a Business in 2 Hours a Day

You know those moments when you see someone absolutely crushing it and you think, "Man, I wish I could do that"?

Let me tell you about Sadie Ray.

When I first met Sadie, she had just left her job at the mill where she was working 60-hour weeks during shutdown season. She had a new baby. She was trying to make e-commerce work. And she was networking in Facebook groups that were mostly bots and job posts for the Philippines.

She was doing all this work but wasn't getting anywhere.

Sound familiar?

The Shift From "This Is Temporary" to "This Is What I'm Meant to Do"

Here's what I love about Sadie's story. She didn't come in thinking she was going to build an empire. She literally told herself, "This is just a means to an end. This is gonna get me a few months down the road till I find something else."

But something changed.

After joining Sales Mama School, Sadie went from zero clients to landing deals through cold calls. She's hitting her revenue goals working 1-2 hours a day. And she's spending all day, every day with her daughter.

Let me say that again: 1-2 hours a day, five days a week.

Not 60-hour weeks. Not hustle culture. Not sacrificing her kid to build a business.

Cold Calling Isn't Dead (And Here's Proof)

People love to say cold calling is dead. Meanwhile, Sadie's out here proving them wrong.

She called 10 places. Eight gave her good reception. And she's working with most of them now.

But here's the thing: she bombed her first sales call just a few months before this. She would have never even picked up the phone back in January.

What changed? Her confidence. Her sales skills. Her ability to show up in a bigger way.

That's what happens when you practice, when you get support, and when you stop letting fear keep you stuck.

The Moment Everything Clicked

Sadie told me something that stuck with me. She said, "At first, I was half-assing like the things I actually did in business and half-assing being a mom. I was constantly thinking about both at the same time and never focusing on one."

Can we talk about how real that is?

That's the trap so many women fall into. You're trying to do it all, all at once, and you end up doing nothing well.

But then we talked about scheduling blocks of time. Even just 10-15 minutes here and there. For working. For playing with her kid. For actually having a life.

And that's when things shifted.

She stopped hustling. She started strategizing. She got focused. And the momentum followed.

"I Don't Want to Show My Face"

Here's one of my favorite parts of Sadie's journey.

She did NOT want to show her face online. She was convinced she could stay behind the scenes and build her business that way.

And you know what? It worked for a minute. Her Instagram grew. Things were moving.

But then it got stagnant.

I kept telling her about B-roll. She kept putting it off. She had all these reasons why she didn't have to do it.

Then one of the girls in Sales Mama School took her on a call and basically said, "We're going live. Right now. In 10 minutes."

And Sadie was like, "Oh, nothing. Just sitting here."

"Great. We're doing it."

That's the power of community. That's what happens when you're surrounded by women who aren't going to let you play small.

Since that day? Sadie's been showing up. Posting. Getting visible. And her business has grown because of it.

What Success Looks Like Now

I asked Sadie what success looks like for her now, and here's what she said:

"I started this whole thing because of my daughter, and I wanted to spend time with her and I'm getting to do that and it's the best feeling in the world."

She's also saving for a 2025 Forerunner. And she knows it's coming. Not because she's hoping. Because she's building a business that's actually making money.

"The things that I need and the things that I want are not far away if I just keep putting this effort and keep showing up."

That's what I want for every woman reading this. Not just the business wins. The life wins. The freedom. The ability to be present for your kids while building something that's yours.

The One Thing She Had to Let Go Of

I asked Sadie what belief she had to let go of to step into this next level.

Her answer? Putting her face out there.

She thought she could hide behind the scenes. She thought showing up on camera wasn't necessary for her business.

But once she let that go? Once she got uncomfortable and did it anyway?

Everything changed.

So here's my question for you: What belief are you holding onto that's keeping you stuck?

Is it that you're not ready yet? That you don't have the right skills? That you're too busy?

Because I'm going to call BS on all of that.

Sadie wasn't ready. She didn't think she had what it took. She was a new mom trying to figure it all out.

But she showed up anyway. She got strategic support. She stopped half-assing it. And now she's building a business that's changing her family's future.

If You're Sitting Where Sadie Was Six Months Ago

Here's what Sadie would tell you:

"If you even have that little thought of like, should I? And am I ready? That means you are. Don't let those doubts stop you because it almost stopped me from joining Sales Mama School. The more I waited, the more I was like, nope, if I don't get in there now, I'm not going to do it. And it was an investment in myself that I will always do over and over again. So if there's that little voice that says yes, don't let that bigger no voice drown it out because it's going to be worth it."

Read that again.

That little voice that's saying "maybe I could do this"? That's your sign. Don't let the louder "no" voice talk you out of it.
