The Key to Creating Consistent Revenue
Hey, Sales Mamas! Today’s blog is inspired by my recent experience at the Craig Johnson Reining Clinic, where I took my daughter’s horse, Kelly, for some hands-on learning. You might be wondering, “What does horse training have to do with consistent revenue?” Well, let me break it down for you.
Just like many believe that spending a few intense hours with a horse will magically teach it everything it needs to know, some entrepreneurs think that one big month of sales can sustain their business. The truth? Both are far from reality. Success, whether in horsemanship or business, is built on consistent, daily effort—not occasional, intense bursts.
I’ve heard from countless business owners about the highs and lows of their revenue streams. One month, they’re on top of the world, and the next, they’re struggling to make ends meet. This inconsistency isn’t just frustrating; it’s unsustainable. So, how do you break free from this cycle?
Consistency Is Key
It’s not about the big sales push once a month or the occasional marketing blitz. It’s about showing up every single day, even if it’s just for 15 to 20 minutes. Consistently nurturing leads, engaging with clients, and promoting your products or services is what drives long-term success. Think of it as building muscle—daily practice compounds over time, creating strength and stability.
Yes, you’re going to get tired of talking about your business, but here’s the thing: not everyone knows about your product or service. While you might feel like a broken record to your current audience, millions of potential customers out there have never heard of you. That’s why it’s crucial to have conversations every day—whether with warm leads, cold leads, collaborators, or partners. If you’re not constantly feeding your pipeline, your revenue will dry up.
A common mistake I see is business owners trying to offer too many products or services. This creates confusion, and as the saying goes, a confused buyer is not a buyer. Focus on promoting one signature offer—something that’s easy to understand and appeals to the majority of your customers. Once they’re in, you can upsell, cross-sell, or customize based on their needs.
The path to consistent revenue isn’t glamorous. It’s about doing the unsexy work—prospecting, marketing, and following up—day in and day out. And yes, sometimes that means getting up early and tackling the hardest tasks first. There’s even a book about it: Eat That Frog by Brian Tracy, which emphasizes doing your most dreaded tasks first thing in the morning.
Don’t be afraid to leverage systems, automations, and even other people to help you maintain this consistency. If tech isn’t your strong suit, hire someone who can set up your funnels, email marketing, and automations. You’re building a business, not a glorified hobby, so it’s time to invest in the tools and team that will help you scale.
To sum it up, consistent revenue comes from consistent effort. Show up every day, market yourself daily, and don’t get lost in the weeds. Keep your offerings simple, and focus on what really drives your business forward. If you commit to this, those dry months will be a thing of the past.
You’ve got this, Sales Mamas. Now, go out there and make it happen!
