Embracing Motherhood and Entrepreneurship: Finding Balance as a Sales Mama

Today, I want to keep it real and talk about something close to our hearts: motherhood and the importance of surrounding ourselves with other moms who just get it.

As a mom, I often find myself juggling between work and family. Today, I aimed for a four-day weekend, but the business world’s “just don’t do anything” advice doesn’t sit well with me. For those of us who are motivated, it’s like telling us not to breathe. I love working, and I’m not ashamed of it anymore. Even on my off days, I need to do something to feel successful, motivated, and energized. This drive sometimes bothers others, including my husband and community, but I’ve learned to embrace it.

It’s crucial to remember that being a mom doesn’t mean losing your identity. You had dreams, goals, and desires before motherhood, and it’s okay to continue pursuing them. I once thought I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom, but I was miserable. Even during postpartum, I couldn’t sit still for long. My brain craves activity and creativity, which isn’t fulfilled by staying idle.

Mom life can be chaotic. Just the other day, my kids interrupted my podcast recording. It’s a reminder that moms understand the struggle of finding alone time. In the business world, many gurus and coaches don’t face the same challenges because they have full-time caretakers or daycare. But what about those of us who don’t want that? It’s hard to find support for moms building businesses while their kids are at home.

That’s why Sales Mama exists. You can be a mom and have a business. It’s not just about direct marketing or MLM. You can explore various fields like real estate, investing, or coaching. The key is finding the right support. I was recently on a call with a team member, both of us juggling kids, and it was okay. We understood each other because we share the same challenges.

Working from home means adapting to interruptions. My daughter often tests my patience, but it’s part of the journey. It’s essential to create an environment where it’s okay to have your kids around. My kids see me work, and I hope to inspire them to have goals and dreams. I want them to see me balancing work, chores, and family life.

Recently, after a challenging call, I felt guilty. But my team member reassured me, reminding me why Sales Mama exists—to provide a supportive environment for moms. Many team calls involve kids, and it’s perfectly fine. We must do what we need to without giving up on ourselves.

Sales Mama aims to change the business culture. It’s about people before profit. When you genuinely care about helping others, selling becomes easier. The old sales tactics don’t work for everyone, especially moms. We need a more inclusive approach.
